Record store (defibrillation) day.

Post by Inconuucl »

So, anyone have any items they wish to get for Record store day this year? Thus far I have this:

Mastodon - Atlanta
Dresden dolls - Virginia Monologues
Electric Wizard
Frank OST
...Maybe the Phish box set because I grew up listening to them and I have a soft spot for that live recording, (I swear I'm not a dirty jamband hippy)

I'll probably not find the Frank OST, but if any of you beautiful people see it and want to make a boy's month here, holla at me and I'll make it worth your time. ;)

Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 5 pedals.
other contestant: I can shoegaze that tune with 4 pedals.
Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 3 pedals.
other contestant: OK, shoegaze that tune!

New Years 1995 is pretty fantastic. Ideally it'd be on a continuous format, but I might pick that up.

The first Swans 12" is getting a rerelease, too.
good deals are here.

I saw them live once a couple years ago -- that song was basically the only thing that stood out to me, but it's an epic.

I want that vinyl reissue of Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete by Polaris. Nothing else really jumped out at me enough that I can even remember what was in the list since viewing it a week or so ago, and I don't have the money to spend on tacky, marked-up plastic I don't need anyway, so I've decided to quell the urge to consume by staying home and spending my time browsing internet forums I haven't checked into in over a year... :hello:

TBH, RSD seems less interesting and more annoying every year. Last year, I stood in line outside the local shop (first year ever having to stand in a line for this event) watching some 20-something a few people ahead of me in line smoke tobacco from a wooden pipe and bro-out with his bros for an hour. I'm not really interested in reliving that experience. The payoff (a cheesy The Cure/Dinosaur Jr. side-by-side record) wasn't quite worth it, and I ended up ordering the other record I really wanted online because it wasn't even available in the store.

I may end up going later on since they're having a show tonight, but I'm not about to try and squeeze myself in the door with everyone else going in when it opens.

On that note, if anyone comes across a copy of this, please let me know. My record stores didn't get it. Otherwise, I got everything else I wanted and met a couple of people
