Re: Boss HM-2
The HM-2 kicks so much ass. After a nice pre-dirt reverb it simply slays

Re: Boss HM-2
Cool. Not with today's prices you can't. Maybe it's that Swedish death metal is very popular in Sweden (duh), but Japanese HM-2s are seen sometimes as high as $150-$200. Don't know if they are actually moved at that price, but for the extra $$ you get a version with true bypass, never used and without the wierd power requirement. I got mine for 75€ in Amsterdam though, so I guess prices are more reasonable in the rest of the world

Re: Boss HM-2
I think if you don't want to go Boss because of non true bypass and strange power requirements the Anarchy Audio HM-2 is the way to go, smallest footprint, best price and it sounds killer, I have one here and I really dig it.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

Re: Boss HM-2
Oh, haha, didn't know that one existed! I was just trying to justify the price, but I guess you simply can't. Wouldn't ever pay that much for a HM-2 clone, or any distortion actually

Re: Boss HM-2
If you want a truly killer HM-2 with extremely high headroom, actual control (and beyond the chainsaw possible in the actual HM-2) with dual para EQs, and two switchable channels - and if you can take rackmount (external FS for switching) with many, many I/O options....look no further than a Boss GL-100.
MIJ, they're forgotten relics of the analog era, and are astoundingly good.
And you can get 2+ for the price of a modern clone. Maybe more.

Re: Boss HM-2
Yep, you *will* be happy (or I'll buy another on the flip I suspect).
Treat it like a HM-2 on the gain channel except the master (it goes so far beyond unity it's stupid). MOde 4, max volume (gain), everything else maxed, I usually have low mids around 1:00 on both dials. Spit spit splat.
Manual is available on Roland's site still (and baseline settings for suggested stuff is about on-point to set up the clean channel for other shit)

Re: Boss HM-2
I was long overdue for a Saturday morning impulse buy. Haha
I think I'm going to use it as my preamp into a kvlt poweramp pushing 2 Sunn 412 columns. I just wish I could run stereo ins, but at that price it would be an easy fix to just grab another one.

Re: Boss HM-2
It has stereo outs though, so run one, call it good.
Can use the XLRs and the various outs simultaneously as well. Routing is ridiculous, I have it as the heart of my rack rig.
