Re: Grindy/Buzz Bass Fuzz; Opposed to Wooly Muff
Welp, I don't have the GREATEST amp ever... it's an Ampeg B-112. But the bass I'm currently using is a mid-70s P-Bass and it's pretty ripping.
I have not had a look at the SS/BS Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz... but I will.
I think based on these responses that I could do a pretty good facimile with the Dr. Scientist The Elements and a Sansamp. I had the opportunity to try all that shit together last night and it didn't occur to me until much later. But a clean blend, some low-gain OD, and some mids is all there in the The Elements. I also have two RATs, a vintage one and a new one. I'm rarely with my bass and amp at the same time but I'll try all this out when I get another chance.
Thanks!

Re: Grindy/Buzz Bass Fuzz; Opposed to Wooly Muff
Back from da dead.
I got pretty close to that Autolux reference in the first post, from "Census". If I turn down a high gain distortion to like 10% gain, and turn Treb and Mid all the way up, like all the way, and then blend the clean and distorted signals to taste, it works out pretty well. However, I need something FUZZIER and not so DISTORTION.
Anybody have a suggestion for a good bass FUZZ pedal that has a clean blend, and then maybe a three band EQ? Bass, Mids, Treb?
THANKS

LAL 46, Superfuzzes, Burns Buzzaround (never used one on bass though)

Maestro Brassmaster clone. Wicked on bass, clean blend but no eq. It's perfecly voiced though.

I forgot about that one. It's an awesome fuzz.Hypnodrone wrote:Maestro Brassmaster clone. Wicked on bass, clean blend but no eq. It's perfecly voiced though.
Cyber Psychic might be worth a look. It has some nice dirt in it too (and it will add some versitility).

ODB-3. No, really. Clean blend, bass/treble eq, and a shit ton more gain than an "overdrive" ought to have.

Maybe a Colorsound one knob fuzz or clone. That will get you in the grindy/buzz fuzz direction. Great sounding fuzz but will need a post boost though.

Shit that thing is stacked. Never heard of it. Looks really cool though and has a ton of customizable options. That might be the winner right out of the gate.
I've tried the Four Eyes Fuzz... I like it for 60s fuzz but not quite for bass.
Still never tried a TAFM. Need to.
Brassmaster I need to try as well.
Thanks everyone!

My fuzz is about to go into production and grind, buzz and growl sums it up to a tee. I can't wait to get this into the hands of other musicians!

Hey that looks really cool. You should consider doing a tour box for it. Send it around to ILFers and let people get some hands on experience and record some demos for you.

Right on, thanks! Yep, tourbox is a great idea! That's actually been on my mile long to-do list since I started work on the fuzz last October. Gonna make that happen for sure. You want in?

Back this and The CreepyFingers Pink Elephant. In the time this thread has been dead I picked on up and it's just about my favorite fuzz ever.Hypnodrone wrote:Maestro Brassmaster clone. Wicked on bass, clean blend but no eq. It's perfecly voiced though.

Don't know how it scores on the coolness scale these days, you might want to spend a little more and get a megalith or ss/bs pedlol or whatevr for that...
I just know the FZ-2 absolutely slays, both on gtrs as well as on bass. It's fuckin gross and insanely loud and cutting. More so even than a more 'accurate' superfuzz clone.
