i used to use an old ss peavy bass head through a sunn 4x12 and a sunn 212lh and man with the right fuzz, you would be surprised at the monster it becomes

Another cool thing with solid state bass amps as pedal platforms is that they are usually very linear in sound characteristics. The pedal sound is the same on every volume setting, only louder (or quieter if you want).
