Oh wow that price! Definitely going to pick this up to experiment. I'm going to try and go with a "less is more" strategy while I ease myself into the modular world.

I've been putting off reading up on this but I guess it's safe to say that I'll be selling the rest of my pedals to make the full conversion to modular.

Well, I've been interested in modulars for 15 years (I remember planning for a Doepfer system a long time ago but not having money to spend), started getting eurorack stuff 2 or 3 years ago and I only have about 3U (one row) of modular so far. And about 20HP worth of caseless modules...

So yeah, you don't HAVE to get a big-ass modular quickly, you know .

About the Cell90, if your modules are all skiff-friendly, it's a nice case. No +5V though, so be sure that no modules need that. I would probably recommend the Move104 more than the Cell90, from Pittsburgh. A bit more expensive but easier to carry, with a bit more HP and you can carry it patched, which is very nice. The Happy Ending Kit is less expensive, if you don't plan to move your modular too much it's a nice solution.

The Dwarf Box core seems rad, it would cool if they had these boxes double sized though.

I'd be as, if not more, inclined to just get a Euro skiff or something like the Cell or Move and put more modules in that... just put in on the floor behind the Patch Box... Unless you wanted more switches / expression controls, in which case use some of that "expander" space for said modules...

Yes, the switches and expression control is what makes this cool to me (whether the patch box is on the floor or not).

When I first got into modulars (a couple of years ago), I immediately gravitated towards Eurorack. I had some awesome pedal set-ups (Mooger based) and I had a Peavey Midi Bass (why did I sell it?), my goal was to make my bass a synth death machine and/or to play synths with my bass as the controller.
So, I got a HEK and filled it with an Analog Systems RS35 (check this module out guys, it is good; pitch>voltage, preamp, EG), a wave folder (these are awesome), oscillator, MS-20 based filter, modulation and then I added the Doepfer modules that allow you to plug expression pedals in and send CV to modules and Doepfer modules that allow you insert pedals into the signal flow, and I bought a decent output module.

The set-up above worked, I would have gladly paid more money to have the functionality that is built in to the Patch Box, it definitely will make this a much neater proposition.

If Pittsburgh does release a larger version, I hope they add some more functionality to the preamp like the RS35 has. Also, if anyone is going to attempt pitch>voltage control of an oscillator, know that it will be monophonic and that you should run through a compressor before the modular, clean playing required of course.

I don't think this is THE product for people who want to get into modular set ups, but rather a cross over for guitar players who want some of the functionality integrated with their current rig.

I see a lot of modular users (on many forums, not just this one) focussing on the limitations of this thing and maybe missing the point that most guitar players don't want to mess with a full set up.

Just my two cents...
