Help me fix my amp plz?

Post by veteransdaypoppy »

My Sunn Concert Bass Amp from like the 60's or something has a messed up jack. So I need to replace it. The part with the ground contact basically broke off of it so I need to replace the jack altogether.

I don't know why it's so damn hard to find this type of jack, but it looks like this:

Except the arm with the plastic end is switched with the piece behind it. So instead of a normally open kind of thing, it's normally closed. I really can't find this and I'm tearing my freaking hair out.
Am I just better off buying something like this, and just not wiring one of the contacts?

Please help! :picard:  :picard:
well i guess, but i just don't know.

I think that sounds like it would work, but I'm not sure I understand what's going on with the whole plastic thingy...

As far as I can see the platic thing is there to keep that lug unconnected and then pushes back to connect the lug behind it... so I think you could just use a standard switched stereo jack.

Thanks dudes. I'll try it out once I get a chance to run to an electronics store... which means after this snow in NJ mellows out and the roads get better.

VP a standard Switchcraft switching jack will work.
Get the normally closed one and you’ll be fine.
I’ve got some, PM me your address and I’ll send a couple to you.

Well If the road to the PO is passable.
