Eastwood Sidejack Bass Vi

Anyone own or play one? Thoughts on it and particularly how it compares to a Squier Bass Vi? I had the squier briefly and didn't like it. Felt the neck width was too small and it felt too loose - even after new strings and a setup.

An acquaintance of mine has one and I briefly fooled around on it recently. Soapbar tones are sweet but the neckdive/balancing is horrible. God awful. Would not buy because of this (and I did GAS for it before). I own a Fender Pawnshop VI & Schecter Hellcat VI (got the 1st version with the minibuckers 2nd hand for €350) and I like the feel of both of those, sound is good and the balancing is great, although the lower horn on the Hellcat is a little too small (can slide of your leg sometimes when playing while seated, but no issue with a strap of course). Of the two I prefer the Fender, but have gigged both and no complaints there on either. The Eastwood's neck didn't feel exceptionally wider than the Fender, but I did feel like the replacement nut was cut poorly, with the string spacing too narrow for the gauge (.102 low E compared to the 95 on my Fender).

For that much money I'd just hunt around for a Fender Japan VI...

Oh and this might be the only time anyone ever hears me say this, but that Eastwood would look a helluva lot better if you just put a hardtail plate on it and ditched the vibrato...

I've got the Baritone version. Feels awkward as fuck, but I never really put enough time into it I guess. I takes some getting used to I suppose.

Can't compare it to a Fender baritone, let alone a Bass VI, but I can vouch for the overalquality. I was blown away with how good the fit&finish was considering the price tag. Too bad it's a pricey operation to try other pickups, cus I'm curious how much difference that'd make. I'm not sure how much of the muddyness is a typical baritone thing

Anyway, it's definatelly different to the Squier you had, so if you didn't like that, you might like the Sidejack Bass VI.

Any Eastwood I've ever touched felt like a lump of plastic crap... I get the 60's Italo aesthetic but I don't understand how they can cost sooo much and feel worse then CII Squiers... I guess I'm not the market but it seems that no one in Austin really likes them because they sit at guitar shops until they have to blow them out at a loss...

I almost went this route before the PS and Squiers were announced.

They seem at least $200 overpriced.

This is the only thread I could find on the Sidejack Bass VI's string spacing, well some other site's stuff came up but wouldn't load in my browser.

SO, Eastwood has a sale on a creme one, big crack in the finish — big deal I planned to refinish it anyway, hate the creme colour...

I'm undaunted by the neck-dive, but I am a bass player so the wider the string spacing at the bridge the better!

Anybody know what it is?

You know, at that price point you could have someone make you a neck to your preferred specs and get whatever body you wanted and some better pickups than youre going to get with a stock guitar.
