Re: KNOBS - Black Fountain
I think I need to stop watching Knobs demos as a financial principle.

Same, I watched the bit quest and black fountain demos and I went to look at which pedals I could sell.... I cannot bring myself to sell any of them. GAS is a cruel mistress.Inconuucl wrote:I think I need to stop watching Knobs demos as a financial principle.

Yeah, y'know, I just felt like that really wasn't what the Black Fountain was about.jrmy wrote:Sounds reeeeeeeeally nice. Kinda wish there'd been more exploration of the organ mode, but overall a super sweet demo (as always).
I didn't do more with the organ because I felt like it was a fun bonus, but not the reason to buy this pedal.
I don't imagine many will be using the Black Fountain for the organ mode.
I would have set the mix heavier if I could re-record though....

I felt like the OBNE technical demo covered Organ Mode enough to get a feel for it:askashrub wrote: Yeah, y'know, I just felt like that really wasn't what the Black Fountain was about.

if you're still looking for more on that mode.
Plus, slo-mo swimming hair/beard segments.

huh. that's the main reason i DO want it. i'm not really that interested in modulated delay, but soupy lo fi vibrato w/ reverb? yes, please!askashrub wrote: Yeah, y'know, I just felt like that really wasn't what the Black Fountain was about.

Maybe not your jam (or not enough reverb) but maybe check out the Instant Lo-fi Loop Junky?voerking wrote: huh. that's the main reason i DO want it. i'm not really that interested in modulated delay, but soupy lo fi vibrato w/ reverb? yes, please!

had one. wasn't thrilled by it. i actually LOVED the vibrato on the actual LOOP JUNKY, but i thought the INSTANT sounded weak. even the Behringer vibrato is way better!mathias wrote:Maybe not your jam (or not enough reverb) but maybe check out the Instant Lo-fi Loop Junky?voerking wrote: huh. that's the main reason i DO want it. i'm not really that interested in modulated delay, but soupy lo fi vibrato w/ reverb? yes, please!

Re: KNOBS - Black Fountain
Yep, I've got a Behringer vibrato. Thinking about rehousing it and making the latch/unlatch a separate footswitch.. (there's also a mod to switch the rate to half but I don't think I need that since I'm using it on bass)

Yeeeeah, it's just not really so awesome at that.mathias wrote:Maybe not your jam (or not enough reverb) but maybe check out the Instant Lo-fi Loop Junky?voerking wrote: huh. that's the main reason i DO want it. i'm not really that interested in modulated delay, but soupy lo fi vibrato w/ reverb? yes, please!
I feel like you would be disappointed if that was your main draw.
In theory it's great, but there's a couple things:
1.) The organ sound is produced by a really short delay.
So, there's always a pause between when you hit the string and when the vibrato signal comes in.
The slower the rate, the longer the pause.
The more you mix in the vibrato, the more you feel that delay.
It was that feeling that I could never quite vibe with, not the sound.
2.) The reverb really is quite mild, and you have no control over it.
JUST MY OPINION THOUGH

All these delays with modulation on the repeats.. kinda makes me wish I had a simple delay with an effects loop for the repeats.

Re: KNOBS - Black Fountain
There was one setting you used in the video that I'd wished I'd stumbled on before letting mine go: the real short delay time with a bunch of repeats, more in the 1st half of the video. That, along with the note selection
Great deals with lordgalvar, filipre, seten, DannDubblewe, PumpkinPieces, backwardsvoyager, DADGBD, jwar, JonnyAngle, dandolin, pd~, Dungus, dminner
