Thanks guys. They truly are a nice pair. The Precision is not necessarily everything but pretty fucking good for '70s Fender. Light weight with a thick yet very comfortable neck and it sounds like any good Precision should. You know, even though I love looking at and drooling over vintage gear, I was never the one to shell out the kind of cash it sells for. The old stuff that I do have I got stupidly good deals on because they were 'broken' and not completely 'original'. But... I committed a grave mistake with these two. I never asked to borrow these, the cool dude offered them to me and I said 'yeah, sure!'. A year and a half after the fact I'm way too attached to let them go so I'll have to make them officially mine no matter how much I end up paying for them.

I hear you, I have a 74 P that I started on my dad bought in 90 for $200 and I kind'a adopted it and became a bassist [which was his actual evil plan…. he's a drummer, they are all evil…] it to me is everything a P should be.. medium width neck, light and has the right sound.. I've had to replace almost everything on it over the years but it is still what it always was :idk:

Man, I'd like to see a picture of that '74! 'My' '75 has already had the pickguard replaced before I got it. It doesn't fit very well but I'd like to replace it with a flat black single ply pickguard in the future. The coils on the pickup are very frail too. When I got it it was crackling and cutting out and sure enough both coils were intermittent. Luckily it was on the outside windings so I solder them together and voila! I may need to either rewind them or just replace them with something else before I start gigging. They've been feedbacking quite badly lately too so potting them might solve the issues with them.

The pickup died a few years ago and I replaced it with a antiquity, sounded the same as the original :thumb:

So nice... Everyday is an awful reminder of my Rick-less existence.

I'd like to try a Ric again. I fucking HATED the 4003 I tried at Guitar Center. It was very hard to play. The neck might have been fucked? I don't know. I remember playing a 4001 when I was 16 and digging it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............................

There is a reason why all three of mine are over 30 years old.. I don't like the necks on the new ones as much.. plus they are just more badass sounding :thumb:

New bass new bass new bass! A Vigier Excess fretless, got it used yesterday. Wasn't sure I was ready to spend this kind of money on a bass when I went into the shop, but this is so cool I just had to have it.

Sounds awesome, fretless + fuzz is brilliant, and it plays sooo nicely. Plus I think it looks hella cool.
