DOD Gonkulator

Post by stevecaratzas »

Does anyone here own one they might be willing to part with?

Are they as heinous as has been reported?

Discuss.

I haven't used one personally but I can explain the pedal to you. It's DOD Grunge mixed with a Ring Modulator.

The four knobs do this:

Grunge Gain
Grunge Level
Ring Mod Level
Master Level

So as I stated, you basically get a two knob Grunge that you can blend with a Ring mod. I don't know if you ever used a Ring mod before, but most have two knobs to tune the carrier frequency to the key or group of notes you are playing, and a blend knob. This basically only has the blend part so you are stuck with the carrier frequency they set it to. Ring mods sound like absolute nonsense unless you know how to adjust them and play to that setting. If you watch the video for the Ehx frequency analyzer he explains it well. http://www.ehx.com/products/frequency-analyzer Imagine that effect blended with a Grunge distortion, but you can't adjust the carrier frequency.

Just found one at the pawn shop last week... I don't give an ish about Stincubus and neither did the pawn shop cause it was cheap... I thought about flippin it to some noise guys but I'll keep it for awhile... I don't like ring mods so this is just a noise maker to me... I can get cool bells and gongs out of it.... You can hear the oscillation at most times but it's not a deal breaker... I don't under stand those reviews about the noise though, it's not gonna dumble up your tonaz so why bitch about what it does? It's a cheap (when introduced) nasty, fuzzy, ringing, freak out box, nothing more... It's super heavy weight wise too, here's the gutz...

Double that bro! Guess they forgot it's a fuckin' DOD pedal! Plus that pedal sounds like shit IMO.

But I'm not very fond of Ring Mods in general. The Moogerfooger Ring Modulator is awesome though.

The man on TB says he paid $230 for his!!! And nobody is taking him up for 180 on the TB classifieds or on eBay. He's taking trades and offers. Now is the time to strike if you really want it.

I've always been interested with the buzzbox by dod. I heard its a mxr blue box except alittle crazier.
Anyone ever had any experience with one?
