The self-titled and their split with Queen Elephantine are much more straight up Sleep Worship, but Dead Roots Stirring and Spires Burn are fucking awesome (I like the old stuff a lot too, especially the QE split, it's just very different)

The Title track to that record (starts at 9:41 in the video) is probably the one I'd play for someone who'd never heard these guys before.

agreed. i heard that song first, and i ONLY listened to that song for like two weeks out of fear that the rest of record wouldn't be as gnarly as that one. i'm so glad i was wrong.
(also does anyone else do that or am i just nuts?)
(also III ended up being my favorite track off that one)
I pretty much fell in love with Dead Roots from the second you hear the amp buzz and the standby switch flick to "On".
That first riff.
I'm pretty sure if they'd had more time to work on that record they could have flowed it all together to weave one long song.
If Elder ever release their "Dopesmoker" moment, it will be fucking epic, indeed.
On the topic of Sleep worship, I love their first full length but I am quite glad they found their sound.
WWPD?
