UG's demo is great, particularly when it comes to demonstrating what the pedal actually does.

And, as you can see in his demo (and others) you can do a lot with it that isn't immediately suggested by what it does. A lot of those interactions aren't things that you can really list out: they sort of happen during the act, particularly when you play with the bias knob in conjunction with adjusting the different waveforms (and that goes for VCA and VCF mode). Like, there's definitely a flange lurking in there somwhere, but I'll be fucked if I know how to get it reliably.

I got mine from Gigahearts/Ian, and there's a PCB that's fairly common lurking around the internet.

D.o.S: you just did some recording with one and drone commander too. Sounded really nice.

I have my PCB sitting there waiting to be populated. It's from MusicPCB and it uses a charge pump instead of the AC supply of the Endangered one. Don't know how different they sound.

I know that there was a change in the Endangered one from the original circuit to clean up the clock noise or something. I really can't talk to have different they act but I assume that they both work well (there just might be a slight difference in the total sweep/speed of the modulation and the noise...don't know for sure because I haven't even put mine together).

The difference between the EAR and the Music PCB (I also have the music PCB version), as I understand it, is that

Technically the musicpcb employs a bipolar supply that runs from-9v to +9
This is provided by an internal charge pump circuit, so you only plug in a normal 9v psu.

Not sure how the EAR is set up but the original gristelizers are bipolar 9v...

I think Nora has the EAR version -- maybe we'll get some feedback on that one (I've never played it).

Your drone track/general use is actually what peaked my interest.

UG: That video is awesome and super helpful. I definitely "get" the pedal a lot more now, and understand where it's different from a standard tremolo a lot better. This is absolutely more up my alley than other trems and such that I've tried.

As far as the differences in the circuit go, the dude who originally built them has a ton to say about it on his website and the conclusion I got is "they all sound the same honestly"

I have the EAR version. It is interesting because mine sounds different than UG's does. Or at least the sounds I typically use are different and my playing style is different so it seems like a separate animal. I could probably be convinced to make a short demo if you wanted.

That would be awesome! It definitely seems like an effect that's very player dependent, so I can see how that would make sense.

I'd never actually seen a Buddha Machine before but I just picked one up. Holy shit is that a cool video. It looks like the Gristleizer is all around perfect for mangling/texturizing pretty much any sort of drone?

I really like the Gristleizer (to the shock of absolutely no one by now, I'm sure), and one of the greatest things about it is that it works with more or less any audio input, almost precisely because it can be so unassuming. Wonderful little circuit, especially nice for making things happen on the fly.

Here is a quick noise demo. You can hear I get quite different sounds than what UG explorers in his video. Mine are much more wookie-like.

Thanks a ton for putting that together! I see what you mean now for sure. It seems to be incredibly play style dependent, but yours definitely sounds different. Side note, EAR's box design is too good.
