on my third round through it now; the whole thing is fucking glorious, but around the 6 min mark in 'Piss Crowns Are Trebled' IT GETS SO EPIC. takes me back to when I saw them a couple(few?) years ago in austin. I was on acid and they played most of this.. it was my first time seeing them live with the visuals and stuff, absolutely mind blowing. couldn't get over the fact that there was a drone orchestra out there.. need to get a GYBE tattoo now :)

HUGE fan of the drones in the 2nd and 3rd track

reminiscent of the more ambient stuff between "real" songs on lift yr skinny fists, that a lot of people see as filler but that I am a huge fan of

The bass at the beginning of Piss Crowns are Trebled sounds like it's trying to overthrow six world governments at once.

I'm gonna be honest though, I really miss the spoken word stuff that usually pops up on a Godspeed record. Even something simple like the "With his arms outstretched bit" from Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! would have been a nice touch. No one does that shit better than Godspeed, in my opinion.

both points super true

to me, it sounded both badass and even fresh sometimes... like... I feel I haven'T heard some of the melodies from GY!BE yet :idk: It's good, but I think it could be better, there's something I don'T fully dig about it

next listens will shape the thought, I'm sure

Second listen and I definitely think it's one of my favorites of their discography. It seems like what they wanted to do on Don't Bend, Ascend but executed better. I really like their combination of psych riffs and orchestral melodies, although the beginning of Piss Crowns seems to drag a little bit.

Either way, good shit. I like that it really feels like it's meant to be one fluid piece. & THE DRONES ARE ON POINT. Really well done, thats the kind of vibe I aspire to.
