€379ish is/was the normal price in the EU. Thing is that when you import one, you have to pay taxes. 25% of the pedal's value including shipping (if applicable). Dealers pay these taxes too. If I were to pre-order the MkII from the Chase Bliss website for $373.15 inc. schipping, that'd boil down to me having to pay an extra $93.29 in taxes. So $466.44 in total. Thanks to the devaluation of the Euro, courtesy of the European Central Bank, that translates to about €425. So I'd be out an additional €100 if I returned the MkI and put down the money for a MkII... Which sucks. And considering that exchange rate, I doubt the MkII is going to sell for much less than €399.jwar wrote:Dude you still paid new price. That equals out to 348 US dollars. WTF is wrong with other countries. That's insane! I'd return it if I were you and ask them for the new version. I mean, it's up to you obviously but the dip switch thing annoyed me, so the new ones win just for that.

Americans have to pay import taxes too. I recently paid $24.25 for a pedal that cost about $399 from England. I also remember paying almost $200 for a chair I got from England. Then again, I didn't pay any taxes for my shruti box from Wales or my other pedal from Ireland. I think it may depend on the carrier they use as I remember Castledine telling me if he ships Fed Ex I will have to pay taxes, and if he used something else (I think standard mail) I wouldn't get taxed.

Why are you bummed? You were one of my first customers Tristan, and I really appreciate you and remember our conversations well early on. I know we always talked about doing a mod, but it would've just been really tough logistically since we are overseas. I consider you a friend, and being such an early supporter of my stuff, if you're interested in the new stuff, shoot me an email. Let's have a chat, a drink, lets talk things over.Tristan wrote:I dunno, a mix control on a phaser is usually pretty useless I think.
Really bummed about those new MKII versions getting out so soon though.
That is, if that tone knob on the Warped Vinyl MKII also works / stays where you set it when you flip the dipswitches.
Too bad Joel didn't put in a low end or wider range LFO option (instead of the lofi, which doesn't do much anyway i.m.o.), that in combination with the tone control would really put the Warped Vinyl in a different catogory and make it even more versatile and capable of different sounds I think.
Next, I have to disagree with you regarding the mix control on the phaser. It is freakin' ridiculous. It goes from 100% dry to 100% wet (pure phase vibrato), an extremely rare and tricky design feature in a phaser. Modulating, or using expression on this insane. In addition, it could be difficult to dial in subtle tones on mkI and the mix control and the 2 stage option on mkII solve that completely.
Yes, Warped Vinyl mkII remembers where your tone setting was at when you switch over to use it for a ramp. Otherwise it would be kind of silly.
What do you mean by wider range LFO option? Warped Vinyl mkII does a deeper vibrato range than mkI (not a ton, but I just decided to max the insanity). Do you mean the RPM LFO should go slower? The nature of the pitch vibrato circuit is that it's a really subtle effect if the LFO is too slow... and I feel like the slowest setting it gets pretty subtle, unless you crank the Warp knob of course, that can help in that context. The ramp LFO can get outrageously slow, so just curious what you mean by that. Lo-Fi is more salient is mkII, because mkII overall is less noisy. I never really explained this well but Lo-Fi, in general (if depth is not dimed) increases the overall delay time on the vibrato side. So it's a different aesthetic. And noisier of course.

Did I mention I have a boner?
Also Nora, how the hell have you had to pay customs fees in the United States?? That is beyond bizarre. I've order literally thousands of things from varies countries and only once had to pay a fee that damn UPS charge, it wasn't customs though. It was a courier fee. Those dicks.

I think people should probably just email Joel before airing dirty laundry in public. Come on guys, this is ILF. Let's keep it civil.
