By the way, I think I recognize your name from the post rock thread on ultimate guitar, am I wrong?

I love my el cap, but I almost never use the tap either. But I really haven't had any problems with it so far. No haven't played it for more than 20min, but maybe the empress tape delay is up your alley? Tap tempo, tape delay /mod, tone shape and whatnot. Just thought I'd also bring an actual suggestion

I don't really use the tap mid-song. If I do, I re-tap during parts when the delay is off. I love my el cap. I need to get a favorite switch but mine pretty much stays on multitap mode b or the sound on sound mode, although lately I've been using a really short delay with the feedback right below oscillation and the reverb up pretty far for some splashy springy echoes.
Its also really good with the tape age pretty high and longer delay time for a darker washy stuff. And I pretty much always have the wow and flutter cranked.

Haha yeah that's me. It's the only thread on UG I have ever posted on. Its one of my regular haunts, the guys on that thread are really cool, and most of us have been talking on it for years.
Basically I think my three main option right now are:
1. Persist with the El Cap. The features and sound work for me, it's just the blasted tap tempo which I use a lot.
2. Switch to my DD20 as my main delay. Right now it's sort of a backup siting in its box at home, because I know there was a reasonable chance I would get sick of the El Cap again haha
3. Get another MLjr. It's a great delay, I didn't have any real reason to sell it tbh.

El Cap lets you choose any knob to express...

I wish I could use a fav switch and expression pedal at the same time.

Haha cool. I lurked the shit out of both the first and second. Posted briefly in the second one. I just got an echo dream 2 and I have fallen completely in love with it. Maybe not as a main delay for post-rock stuff though. And also, no tapTheTransient wrote:Brandsmannen wrote:I love my el cap, but I almost never use the tap either. If oscillation is one of your life n persuits. It sounds really nice for edge of oscillation type delay but once it starts to self oscillate it sounds kinda weird. I think that my have already been mentioned but yeah.
Also sometimes the click+hold for oscillation swells can leave a shitty blip in your recordings

just some info.
i saved a new *Favourite* setting yesterday.
i forgot how to save.
something odd i noticed.
i turn the reverb on the el cap OFF. Always.
when i plug/unplug the trs cable the reverb gets added back into the mix?
so i had to turn it off again.
