Caline Snake Bite Reverb

Post by Rob Fossil »

Has anyone tried the new Caline Snake Bite reveb pedal? I've been looking for an inexpensive ambient verb to put pre-dirt, and this looks interesting as long as it's not a total P.O.S.

Kind of a "rockin' name for a reveb pedal, but then most of their pedal names that aren't obvious are a bit off (I.E. Puffer Fuzz, Hot Mushroom, Crazy Cacti).

Image

Controls:
RES( resonant)—to simulate resonant response in different environment of acoustics.
CFR(center frequncy)—to adjust center frequency of formant.
LPF(low pass filter)—to adjust the radio-frequency component of reverb.
PRD(pre-delay)—to simulate the delay of space reflation
MIX ratio of wet-and-dry
DECAY -to adjust the delay time.

The playing in the vid tends to meander, but you get the idea

I don't have any experience with this, but it seems to be cheap enough to try out. I like "colder" reverbs pre dirt, like the EHX cathedral. I dunno, it just feels a little less muddy to me. Not saying this is a "cold" reverb (although cheaper verbs tend to be), I can't really watch the demo right now

It actually sounds really good, IMO. The Res knob, it's hard to hear any changes for me personally. Also, at higher mix and decay settings, there will sometimes be noise bleed through when bypassed. I use that as a wind generator of sorts occasionally but it can be annoying when you don't want it. Just have to remember to turn those controls back down. I will see if I can show you what I mean after work.

Seems to be capable of some over-the-top sounds, very easily. The Mix control is at like 11 o'clock at the 1:00 mark and the reverb is very epic?

Maybe the dirt pedal was way loud because the reverb was ducking.

I just picked one of these up, and for the price the reverb is really nice sounding. Only problem is that white noise when you have the mix and decay up high.
