I wish I knew how to get that bass sound. They're able to do it live too.

I don't know... the bowed guitar sounds dirty and rad, no doubt... but the song doesn't really make much sense to me in the way how it progresses :D

Niiiiiiiiice!
Digging this a lot more than Valtari for sure.
Dat bass....
I like how the song progresses, definitely less predictable than a lot of their other stuff.

FUCK YEAH!

Well a lot of that is recorded direct in. The middle section where the bass sounds more familiar is probably through an amp and a mic (or simulation) Live you can pretty easily switch to a direct line when the song calls for it. On the last Bon Iver tour the guitars had DI boxes on the pedal board, but I think those were mostly "just in case."

Heavy. Althought Valtari is my favorite album of Sigur Ros, they always get better and better.

Thanks brrrooo. :)*

I was considering trying to replicate it with some kind of line splitter and doing something involving blending a +2 octave + fuzz but getting it kind of wild and changey like in the song could be tricky. Maybe more trouble than it's worth. I just want to go bwarm.

Also guys,

necroing this thread

Kveikur has been avoiding me until the last few days... The last few days, I almost haven'T been listening to anything else than Kveikur :D even fell in love with this song, which, two years ago, didn'T make much sense to me

and I love the bass sound, shit. It's similar in the title track Kveikur as well. Someone just said "let's go balls out and get a really cuttting, punchy, synthy and non-traditional sound" and just went for it. I love that

Yeah, their new style darker heavier style is great. I love this album too. I actually pretty much listen to that one when I feel like some Sigur Ros.

Truth is Goggi also uses a Moog Minitaur live with a midi keyboard, so a lot of what we're hearing might be that :idk: We can hear string noise in the latter half of the song and see him in the video playing bass with a similar sound, doing swells with a volume pedal and sliding the chords down, so ... a bit confusing :D

but at least live, he plays the Minitaur for Brennisteinn as seen here - jump to 13:10 for the beginning

according to the PG Rig Rundown, he has it on the wooden stand, but it's just for show, there's just the Minitaur and a keyboard :) great live set this one, too!!
