Guitarists/Fuzzaholics, can we talk pedal order?

I'm pretty much done with adding pedals with the only possible exception being swapping my phaser and trem pedal out for a Pigtronix Rototron, but I doubt that will happen for quite a while. I'm damn happy with the rotary speaker sounds out of the combined phaser > stereo trem/panner. Also remember that I'm using a Rocktron Loop 8 pedal switcher, so it's no big deal the other stuff is in front of the Octavio & Sun Face because they're in loops.

I'm going to be using the following pedals in front of my amp, and right now the order I'm at is...

Twin Bender (Tone Bender clone) > Keeley Java Boost (Rangemaster Treble Booster) > Systech Harmonic Energizer (used for Parametric Filter/EQ and moderate OD for dialing in super thick stoner rock/metal/doom tones) > Crybaby 535 > Danelectro Chili Dog Octave > Dunlop Octavio > high-gain white-dot Sun Face (Fuzz Face clone) > BAT LSTR (russian Muff type).

A. For stacking purposes I only plan on stacking the Tone Bender into the Java, one of the other fuzzes, or my amp dirt because it's so rude and has a strong attack so it stacks into stuff well. I also want to have the option of stacking the Java both pre and post fuzz, hence the Tone Bender going in the #1 spot. I'm also thinking the Tone Bender into the Systech will give me some hella thick doom tones. Finally, then I can stack the Java into the LSTR and the germanium Sun Face. I'm betting the Bender into the mid boost setting on the Java is gonna be damn epic.

B. I really I want to have the wah > Octavio > Sun Face signal chain an option for some Jimi vibe at times.

C. I only have 7 loops available for 8 pedals, since one of the spots is dedicated to my 3ms Phaseur Fleur which goes in the amp's loop. In that light I plan on stacking either the two octave pedals, the Octavio and Sun Face, or the Sun Face and LSTR in one loop. Not sure which I'm gonna stick together, but I'm leaning towards the Octavio & Sun Face going together though I may go with the two octave pedals in a loop.

stacking dirt: i'd usually go low gain to high gain. i dont have much else to add really.

No idea, but I love that your pedal chain is basically all dirt. You're doing it right.

One thing I always do is put muffs before all other non-octave dirt, because texturally no matter what drive you put before a muff, it is still going to sound like a muff. Unless you want to change between two gain stages of muff.

But in general:

Octave, Dirt (high gain to low gain), Ring Mod (somewhere in the middle of the dirt), Filter, delay, modulation, delay.

Reverb and trem come from the amp.

I concur. Though sometimes I run a tremolo first. Ring mod with dirt around it (usually high gain/disortion) is the way to go. Unless the ring mod is something like spkjr then it goes first. Moog, ehx all go in the middle. There ain't really no rules though (some Fuzzes don't like buffers though....I'm talking to you octavella).

Same applies to Rats too.

A light-medium OD at the end of the chain for us, the clean amp users, is good to get some interesting sounds.

Wah or autofilter last in the chain is cool too.

Reverb+delay in the beginning, middle and end of chain. Fill space with fuzz. Tasty sandwich is tasty.

My main amp's distortion is epic too (Dual Rectifier Tremoverb).

BUT I'd be less than honest if I said they were ALL dirt. Those are just the pedals going in front of the main amp. I've got a phaser, stereo trem/panner, and stereo delay in the loop splitting the signal between both of my amps' power sections, and after next week that will be fed to a 4x12 + 2x12 stack on each side.

I can't do my trem up front because one is built into the amp, and the other is used to split my signal stereo in the loop of my main amp.

I'm not going to be using the octave pedals with the Twin Bender, that pedal is primarily there to get my Jimmy Page fix, but it does do a whole lot more. But I will still have the Sun Face (ge Fuzz Face), LSTR (Muff type), and my amps gain after the octave pedals. I really am absolutely stuck on the Wah > Octavio > Sun Face thing, for the Jimi factor.

What's awesome as hell though is that I get stereo trem panning though both amps, and can set the Tremoverbs trem at a different rate to give it a very off kilter warble.

Yeah, I'm more keen on the Twin Bender into the Muff than the other way around. Feeding all those crunchy aggressive mids through the LSTR with the fuzz on zero and the volume up high is so angry and gnarly.

My setup is about to include an order switcher so I can save space. So basically it will go

Channel B:

Reverb

Looper

So with the switcheroo I can move my delay and verb pre or post gain with a stomp. Not sure if I want the modulation in the same channel as the dirt or just before everything no matter what, but I think I want it in the same channel so I can run a tremolo after reverb if I want.
