Delay Off! Echorec Vs. Small Echo Array
So, I have an echorec. It sounds great, but does not work that well with other pedals. The rhythmic echo aspect is really appealing though so I am having a hard time getting rid of it. I noticed that the Infanem Small Echo Array does a similar thing, perhaps even better, since the switches seem like a more pleasant way to interact with the multiple echo thing. But whereas there is a huge amount out there on net about the Echorec, there is conversely a dearth of information out there about the Small Echo Array. Just a couple of Devi videos (that sound great!) and of course our own Uncle Grandfather has some videos up as well. Anybody else have experience with the Infanem? Or has anybody tried both?

Have you looked at the 1776 Multiplex? It does the rhythmic echo and it's comparatively easier to find.

I'm gonna echo (HA!) DoS - 1776 Multiplex is great. It is a DIY kit, though, so you'd either need to be skilled with a soldering iron or get someone to build it for you. Several builders on ILF have done it, though, with great success.
Here's ILFer Skullservant showing the Echorec mode of his build:

Here's another YouToober showing his (not sure which mode its in)

Here's annudda guy! This one clearly goes through the different modes...

The 1776 has three modes: Binson Echorec, RE-201, and EP-3. It's tons of fun - there's also a momentary button that does different stuff in different modes (plays with "tape speed," ramps up oscillations, etc).

Hm, I wonder if that 1776 Multiplex is the same thing that Foxpedal uses in their "The Wave" pedal, because it has the same 3 modes on it.

It is. They did it with the 1776's dude's approval, apparently:

Have you looked into the original Pigtronix Echolution? It's completely bonkers for rhythmic delay.

I own and love both the Echorec and 1776 Multiplex. The Echorec sounds fantastic and the rythmic patterns are so super cool.
ILFer LaoWiz (The Out Sound) built my Multiplex. Three classic modes, sounds incredible, and the momentary "tape speed" stomp let's you get some awesomely crazy or subtle results depending how you use it. It's a nice compliment to the Echorec, can be more straightforward and simple or provide whacked out rhythmic stuff and it's gets along very well with other pedals.

Thanks for the input dudes! LaoWiz echo looks pretty sweet! Still no words about the small echo array? May have to check it out just for curiosity sake.

I've tried the Small Echo Array. I liked the idea of it and it can definitely do the rythmic thing but mine was really noisy and didn't gel well with my other pedals.

Re: Delay Off! Echorec Vs. Small Echo Array
i tried the sea, it's an interesting idea to have the 4 delays all switchable.
because they are all increasing in maximum length they all have a slightly different sound, getting increasingly (decreasingly) lo-fi/crunchy, especially at longer delay times.
as well as using them in rythmic combinations you can also use them individually for different sounds.
it also means that when using like an original echorec, instead of getting bap, bap, bap, bap .... schbap, schbap, schbap, schbap .... schbla, schbla, schbla, schbla .... schl, schl, schl, schl ....
you get bap,bap,bap,schbap .... bap,schbap,schbap,schbla ..... schbap,schbla,schl,schl ...etc

What are you running into/after the Echorec? I have crazy signals going into it and fucking it up afterwards, and never had any problems.

Re: Delay Off! Echorec Vs. Small Echo Array
I've never played with an echorec, but the small echo array comes very close to sounding like my binson model 2. It nails that echo/reverby coloration that identifies the binson and it gets these noisy degraded tape quality. The toggles are smart and like mentioned allow you to easily get the many combos in a smart way.
