Dunno about anyone else, maybe it's more remote for people in the US, but for me growing up in Europe the swastika is still unequivocally associated with the Nazis and the racist far right.

I don't know...for me growing up, it was also (and is still) "unequivocally associated with the Nazis and the racist far right." That's growing up in the wilds of Pennsylvania.

Come to think of it I remember being in some small village in rural Pennsylvania once and one of the streets was called Fuhrer Avenue (or Lane or whatver)!

one of my best friends is a jew. he went to some culinary school in pittsburg in the late 90s. some ass carved a swastika in his door along with go home jew. i am not implying that pennslyvania is full of natzi asses, but my hebro called me freaking out about it when it happened. it sucks. shitty people make things shitty...
