Live looping
I'm starting a new band that will require me to do lots of live looping with a synth. I've never tried anything like this before and am a bit nervous. Any of you have tips to make live looping smoother? Favorite looper for live use? Right now I'm looking at the boss rc20xl because it has two footswitches and is cheap.

Re: Live looping
i have seen it done live with a Boomerang one of the older models. I think any looper you practice with will work.

I use a Seppuku Digital Water, which is basically a modded NUX Time Core. Works great and has plenty of nice sounding delay settings for the price tag that you can use when not looping. I mean, really good sounding delays. And one of those being a reverse delay? It has trails/tail and stereo in/out. For, what, $35? Much delay, very looper, wow, such slept on.

But the art and the wave sound, man. The wave sound. Ride the big ones.

But in all seriousness; the mod looks fairly simple as well (of course, this statement is coming from a person who knows little to nothing of circuitry and has just had a peek inside the pedal) and the Seppuku is way overpriced. I mean, I love the sound Rhys goes for so I'm actually willing to buy it, so why not sell it at that price when there are idiots like me around? Nevertheless, the NUX in itself is a great pedal, hence why I'm recommending it. The modulated and reverse delay alone I'd pay so much more than $35 for, and the looper replaced my Ditto.

Using the Timeline's looper.
Was using the RC20XL before and now is just another practice tool for the bedroomz.

CT5, el Cap, and DD7. Usually for delays but also looping. All for textures though, not synched up song structure stuff. Out of synch loops rule.

In to register my adoration for the DL4 as a looper. By far my favorite piece of looping gear ever.
I play guitar and modular synthesizer in Juggable Offense.

A hardware-agnostic tutorial on how to go about it: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/2 ... ing-lesson
If your current looper makes intuitive sense to you in its basic function, don't dump it without making sure the next one vibes okay with you, too.

rc20xl is a solid choice. I'd aim for the 30 if you can thoughscienceman wrote:I'm starting a new band that will require me to do lots of live looping with a synth. Re: Live looping
I've been using the sound on sound mode on my El Capistan more than I have my Ditto. With the ditto there's an obvious break in the loop when it resets, but the El Cap is seamless. Plus you can go from pristine looping to old dirty tape machine madness. Highly recommended.

Although 30 has more "capacity" and can do seamless loops.

If you guys will use a click, try a lexicon jamman. You can sync it via midi and it is tight.

Re: Live looping
Dude, can you demo this? It sounds kinda awesome. What is max loop time? Is it easy to get start/stop correct? Can I ask another short question? Can I?neonblack wrote:I've been using the sound on sound mode on my El Capistan more than I have my Ditto.
