damn you have that set loud  mine is unity gain with the volume maxed and gain on like 0.5
i really like the angel ring a lot, it's been a mainstay for me. weirdly it's probably the most 'transparent' clean boost pedal i've tried when the gain is turned right back and i've tried some pretty boring 'ol boost pedals. i dunno if it's just my setup but when i crank the gain it sounds like lower frequencies are distorting way more than the higher ones and it has a 'boomy' sound to it rather than sounding like a normal drive circuit. it's neat.

Well they are really two different types of pedals. The truck loud is more of a colorful od, while the angle ring is a clean boost throughout most of its range until you get into the "heaven" range where it starts to get dirty but in a mild manner for a LAL pedal..I was hoping for some more extreme sounds like some other LAL pedals in the last bit of range on the control. But it does add a bass boost to the sound the higher up the gain setting you go like backwardsvoyager notes, and that's pretty cool and colorful. Overall I like the truck loud better because I'm not a fan of clean boosts, but needed one for bringing up the volume for when stacking certin pedals that result in a volume drop. At least the angle ring makes it interesting by adding the bass boost and having that dirty breakup which sounds really good with the LAL pedls I've tried it out with so far. Overall I'm very happy with the angel ring, it actually is more interesting than I thought it would be and is about what you would expect from LAL.

Hey there, here is a listen to the Lastgasp Art Laboratories LLuna. I've using the Angel Ring for some volume boosting because the starve can really cuts out the sound.

Awesome review and good information. It was kind of hard to tell in the video because I felt like you were driving you amp a bit. I feel like lluna is one of his less wild Fuzzes too.

I notice you run everything at full volume. Unity does change quite a bit on a pedal to pedal basis with LAL.[88 is way quieter than 46] I know you like you gretch boost better, but I'm glad you did this demo because I kinda always wondered about its range.
Thanks again.

Yeah, in my demos I try to give the full on experience because subtle sounds just get glossed over anyways because of the lo-fi nature of my iphone/pad. In actual use i set things up at unity gain but with the demos its easier to set it up maxed out so I dont get alot of clipping...at least thats the goal. With the angle ring, its a very transparent boost but it does start to distort as the gain is increased and you can really hear it with the main level maxed out. in the instructions it says that its a clean boost until you get into the 11-13 gain range of "heaven" but it actually starts to break up alot sooner on the gain range, i think you can hear it in the demo. Im pretty sure that all of the breakup is from the pedal and not the amp cause its far from being pushed hard.

I agree. I seemed to break up way sooner. I try to run everything at unity too but that is a chore in of itself. Every time I have tried to record lately with a camera and have it at unity and a nice clean setting on my amp the camera picks up every foot step and breath. Might have to try it at higher levels, because you're right that the subtle isn't going to heard.

that's what's worked for me, my earlier attempts at running things normally would have clipping everywhere and sound extra shitty. but i've found the perfect distance from the amp now and a volume setting on the amp where i can max out the pedals and give a full on blast of tonez. see my home recording studio is all analoge tape based and i don't have any digital interface nor do I have any interest, so there's a big trade off of sound quality vs. getting to hear what type of sounds the pedals are capable of that I try to get the most out of with my iphone/pad. that's also why i tend to stick to noisier excursions to take advantage of the lo-fi nature of things. if i had a digital video camera the sound quality would improve but I don't really think its necessary...i'm just making these demos for ILFers who don't seem to be upset about the recording quality compared to many a person who complains in the video comments  or I dont know maybe those are from ILFers too :idk: ...I would like better sound quality so that I could compare and contrast pedals in a meaningful way as I have a lot of cool vintage pedals that don't get a lot of demos.

yeah its quite the interesting pedal. the starve results in the most incredible textures with an oscillation going on in the background. I think my favorite setting so far is with the osc just on the verge of occuring and with the starve dimed it all congeals into a beautifully broken sound. its a good thing i got the angle ring boost at the same time because there is a considerable volume drop when the starve is turned up.

I worked on tape a lot too but I have gotten have descent recordings from the digital rig I have now after my stuff got stolen years ago (during an album recording). It's just a pain to deal with and not organic which is kind of what I think you are going for (meaning it's not sterile and made to be mass consumed....like looking through a sketchbook). I think your demos, and a lot of the ILF demos, are like sketchbooks of experiments and they also help in the trading of ideas. Like biloma vs rattle crow and all that demo tape fuzz stuff you did. Just like now you've paired lluna with the angel ring. Because of that I have though about busting out my lluna and donshari to see how I like it.

Hey you, here is a listen to the WMD Geiger Counter. It has some 252 waveforms, for the demo I just focus on one and the many ways it can be manipulated.

You should start a parallel thread of all analog demos and just mail all of us cassettes of 'em.

Hey, so the WMD has 252 different waveforms which can be further manipulated, here are some of the different waveforms. This pedal is bananas.
