Recently (okay several months ago) I got a DS-1 after I put a down payment for a Bass at a local music shop and decided that it was a waste of money getting that bass. The shop only would refund with "store credit" so, naturally, I paid full price for a DS-1 so I could burn through that credit and never return to the shop again. Well, that wasn't enough for me. Ultimately, after perusing various mods, I decided I'd take a stab at the "circuit bend" mod or "synth mod." That was going alright until I realized I'd have to actually cut the board so I could fit wire from the switches to the back of the board. Stupidly, as a last resort on a particularly stubborn corner, I used a wire cutter to clip it off. I clipped of the entire edge of the board (including three traces)
Not to worry, though, because I can just wire jumpers and all will be well.
It wasn't all well.
SOMEHOW, I'm pretty sure I managed to burn up three transistors

. I really don't know how because I used heatsinks on the transistors before I soldered the jumpers onto the contacts. But, it happened. So, I think all the burned up transistors were 2SC2240CR transistors. Whatever the hell that means.
Now, my question. I've read that 2N5088's can be used to replace the 2SC2240CR if you change the positions of the pins a little. And 2SC2240CR transistors seem impossible to find without going to some random site which looks as if it's still using the same layout from 1995 that would require me to buy a billion of them and wait a few weeks to see them. I look on Mammoth Electronics and all the have are 2SC2240GR transistors. So, would those work, or is there something about them that wouldn't work?
