Let's talk good low wattage amps
Just listed my Classic 50 and Ultimate Chorus locally; when they're gone I'll need something else. Going smaller because my apartment is small.
I'm leaning towards something like a Blues Junior III, gimme recs in that general area. I like combo amps and, while I'm no toob purist, I've had several solid state bad experiences.

i've played a few Rental - Blues Jr III 's. and. ending up buying one
you can find em at a reasonable price.
they sound good with pedals!
i'm happy with mine.
i use it clean though. with volumes at 3
which i find a good bedroom/apartment level.
pedals for Gain.
only downside i can think of. is you may find it bright/harsh.
breaking in the speaker may help that?
or changing the speaker.

If you can get your hands on a Silverface Fender Champ or Vibrochamp, or Bronco (rebadged Vibro) jump on it. 6 BEAUTIFUL watts, and a hand wired circuit identical to the Blackface counterpart. Only amp i regret letting go...now I'm on the hunt for another.

Might be able to trade my Peavey for a Blues Jr III straight up tomorrow. Considering the Peavey resale value around here, it's probably a good deal.

Re: Let's talk good low wattage amps
maybe...If you had a C30 Id say jump.. but I can't help but feel you're losing out on that trade...I've had two classic 50's...If it were one of the Champs I mentioned, I'd do it no question, but Blues Jrs have never done much for me. But Ultimatly it comes down to your needs and your ears.

Re: Let's talk good low wattage amps
I'd keep one of the big amps, sooner changing to lower efficiency speakers or using a different cab at home vs playing out.
Then go shopping for a smaller amp. DRRI is an outstanding option, and I also dig AC15s.
If you have the cash....check for secondhand Swart Space Tones as an option I have long lusted over, myself.
Whatever you do, try to leave yourself with flexibility for future expansion...because if you ever want to play outside, you'll find yourself grateful to have that extra headroom and power as needed.
Another general point of consideration is amps with MV are the best friend of apartment building players.

Re: Let's talk good low wattage amps
Yeah the Classic 50 has master and it's been great for bedroom/apartment playing. It's just big and heavy and my apartment is running out of space. Also it's pretty much been my only amp for 5+ years, so I'm looking to change things up. I'd keep the Ultimate Chorus around if I could coax a sound I liked out of it. I just can't seem to mesh with the thing.
For my current situation, the Jr III is making more and more sense (master volume!). I'm probly gonna go for it. When we've got the space and the cash again in a few years, I'll look into getting a bigger amp.

I am currently in possession of my friend Davis' Gibson Discoverer, and it fucking slays. I'm contemplating trading him my HD130 for it!
