Corgan had a strat during Pumpkin days...it was the Ultra Strat and different neck I think.

I don't like locking trems at all, but on the ones I've played the kahlers feel better to me. No guitar needs a locking trem, you just need to put your strings on right. I go ape on my strat's vibrato and it won't go out of tune no matter what.

i personally don't have a problem with the tuning of a stock 6 screws fender trem...the problem i have is the arm breaking off inside the block. that gets old. and one thing about the kahler.... it feels so smooth that it's almost "not right"...i mean, to me it feels that it has no tension, even when the bass springs are used.....i could see someone liking that. e
