Favorite post-delay dirt?

Post by neonblack »

I've been considering getting another Mini to run at the end of my chain, maybe post delay pre verb. I've also been thinking maybe a Behemoth II.

What's your favorite dirt to run after delay? I would think something with a blend maybe. Probably not gated, unless that's what you're going for. I'd prefer something that retains lows too.

Maybe I'll try my TAFM at the end and switch the gate off when I use it with delay.

Anyways. What about you guys?

Yeah, I'll upgrade to a tube amp at some point, but I'm running solid state at the moment.

TAFM is awesome post delay even with the gate on. Clean blend is super helpful.

ALL OF THEM...

Dirt > Delay > Dirt > Delay > Dirt > Delay > Dirt... All day...

I like something heavy and muffish last...

Also an Algal...

for edgy/gritty dirt - Mini
for heavy saturation - TAFM

generally i prefer OD for this because it ends up being less noisy and the Mini excels because the bias knob acts almost like a subtle usable gate, but the TAFM is so good for just putting at the end of the chain to make everything BIG.

Tube amps are kinda over rated.

Granted I luv tube amps. But there's some good SS amps. Most of the time I play SS anyway, don't have to let it warm up or anything.

kbi and Achtane are right about the TAFM.
The older one I owned sounded insane after delay, as did the Green Muff w/ blend I owned.
Keep the dirt level low so you can get the layer of grit under everything........or not, I'm not a cop.

I have delay at the very beginning and end of my pedal chain, so I'm no help to you (and for some reason I am still sharing this). Unless you count the tube preamps that get it all before the power section, in which case I'd say
