Moog Expression Pedal? (Moog EP-3)

Does anyone have experience with it? My interest is peaked by the low price tag.

Does it seem to hold up well and have good sweep/expression functionality? Does it feel like a floppy piece of shit?
How would you guys say it compares to the Roland EV-5 or the Line 6 EX-1? Because they are all on the cheaps.

Afaik the only difference between the ep-2 and ep-3 is the 3 doesn't have an attached cable. I've used a dozen or so ep-2 for years with no problems, they are about the same build quality as the ev-5, but the moog is 100kohm and the Roland is 10kohm so it depends what your pedal needs are. I think he moog are a great deal for the money and feel responsive with a nice smooth sweep.

I don't know what red panda recommends but I get excellent results with the moog ep-2. The ev-5 gets little response.

The EP-2 has a string and sheave construction, whereas the EP-3 has a toothed gear. I like the EP-3 way more - the throw is smoother and it seems more reliable than the string (I've had problems with its tension).

Otherwise they are the same construction wise = super solid.

I'd get one.

From the manual of the particle:

Plug an expression pedal into the EXPR jack to control the
pitch/delay or param knobs.
Any expression pedal with a 10k-
50k ohm linear pot will work. For example, the Roland EV
-5,
Moog EP-2, M-Audio EX-P
, or Mission Engineering EP-1.
When an expression pedal is used, the knob sets the
maximum value. If your expression pedal has a minimum
value knob, you can control the knob over a specific range of
values

I agree that the EP-3 is a significant improvement over the EP-2.

... which in turn is an improvement over the EP-1.

I have seen some EV-5s with really low pot values (~ 8.5K), but even then you should get 99% of the pot travel and be able to reach all of the settings.
