I used a little acetone to get paint of a previous band off and then cleaned the dirt off with something like windex. I then finished it with the satin armorall That leaves less residue. This was for the hard to let and not the soft faux-leather stuff. Mostly it just took effort.

I tried that spray on foaming tire shine on my Ampeg, and it came out amazing. I just sprayed on a bit, and spread it around with a rag. Let it sit until the foam dissipates, and then just give it a buff with a clean cloth.

WD 40 or rubbing alcohol works well too.

Lemon juice just to clean it then armour all to protect.
