If it's a tune-o-matic bridge then get a roller bridge for realz. From what it sounds like it is, because non-Classic Players JM's don't have a screw in tremolo. If you are still having problems then take a pencil and rub the graphite on the saddles and the nut. It will slide like a beaut. As for your tremolo arm being too close, can't help you there, that's what I've found with every CP JM unfortunately, that's why I avoid them.

CP JM/Jags have a fixed TOM style bridge. The assembly is not meant to rock on it's posts, like a standard JM bridge does. Indeed, the posts are supposed to be screwed into the body.

Damn totally forgot (been a while since I've had a Les Paul) tune o matics shouldn't be rocking like a standard JM bridge right???

As far as the tremolo setup goes, if it's doing that it's either set up way too loose or the silly lock thingy is locked under mechanism and you need to push the slider forward to unlock it....

ugh, do not recommend. It's a string shooter when strumming anything tougher than say, simon and garfunkel.
