EHX Pocket Metal Muff

Post by penelope tree »

Has anyone ever tried one of these pedals? I've noticed they're only £30 on Thomann and thought it might be useful in the loop of my Superego or in a feedback loop.

I actually really like the full sized one for bass/drum machines. Other than that I have no clue. It's really high gain so it could be cool in a feedback loop.

I like it on bass, on guitar it can get buzzy. Which might not be for everyone. :idk:

I have played the pocket and the full size both are pretty good
very good if you just want em in a noise loop of some type

Slightly off topic, but I've been wondering, is the loop on the SuperEgo actually a proper feedback loop or not? I thought it was just a way to modify the wet signal and didn't have any loop properties and that the term loop was a misnomer.

It's an effects loop rather than a feedback loop. The frozen audio is only fed through once, not in cycles like the loop of a Deluxe Memory Boy or something.

Yes, but the way the pedal is engineered results in each repeat going through the effects loop a further time. If you place a pitch shifter in the loop the repeats will gradually increase or decrease in frequency. With the Superego the grain of sound that is repeated only goes through the pedal(s) in the loop once so the pitch shift would be constant rather than ascending/descending.
