NAD: Noone told me Trace Elliot is cool as heck

same model, not my amp, i'm lazy to take a photo. mine has the wheels, too

speaker was changed for a nice Celestion (yep, it's a 15"), although I think it's just an 8ohm, so it's not running on the full 300w. Still - nicely loud and wow - cool sound! Since I dig my GK, it's pretty much right up my alley. And damn - that parallel EQ is a great idea!

Bought a second amp so i can have two in two separate rehearsal spaces for two bands. The plan is to use this with flatwounds (got a set of Roto's for b-day from my parents, anxious to try it!) in the more chill band. I also have a new project coming (possibly), which should be a really agressive hardcore-ish sort of thing... think Birds in Row maybe? My GK and 115 Ampeg clone will take care of that :)

excited :hello:

I want a Trace Elliot really bad just so I can tape over the "Elliot" and have an amp with my name on it. Also haters gonna hate but I really dig the black/green aesthetic. Never played/heard one though.

Nice score! I've always wanted to try a Trace Elliot. I've heard that their enclosures are heavy as hell, though.

Dude Trace Elliot is fucking awesome. Some of the best bass players I've heard play through them. Nice score!

They're ok. Kind of like Hartke/Ampeg in the sense that they have a really specific tone signature you can't dial out, but if you like that you won't find anything that does that thing better.

ha, funny you say that. It really sounds similar to GK to my ears, which I totally dig - sort of on the brighter side with more "modern" attack. It's also a bit drier sounding and I would maybe even call it a bit character-less if you don'T count dry and hi-mid focused sharpness as an amp character  I expect it to take pedals really well (dry sound and um... Doug Wimbish :thumb: ) and serve me well :)

The weight rumours are true. this bitch is just a 1x15, not even that big, and it weighs way over 70 pounds :idk: But it seems rather tank-like, so i'm pretty confident in touring with it :) plus wheels and good handles

put on the Roto flats and tried it with my GK. I'll try it with the Trace tomorrow, but due to a different speaker, I suspect it will be a better match (goes to higher freqs). Quite dig the feel and sound of the flats, but the low E is now screaming for re-fretting  Much more prominent than with rounds

LOL at the smiley face EQ.
Trace Buddies! I have a 1215 combo, it's new(er) and pretty much has the clean sound I want. So heavy though, I need a little cart or put wheels on the bottom. The preshape feature can be great or so awful. I can get two bass tones out of it, that bright 80's new wave bass or a solid distorted metal tone.

that's how you know it's not my amp  i'm all about them mids

i really feel it will compliment my P/J with flatwounds SO WELL... just need to re-fret real quick  the low E is sooooooo muted in some positions

btw my first flatwounds here... is it normal they have sort of shorter sustain than roundwounds?

This dude is fucking amazing, granted he's playing a Wal, but still. Look Trace right there!

If I even had a quarter of his talent. Sigh.

The trace stuff appears to still be flying UTR, for now....

I picked up a Trace head and a pair of 2x10's last year for nothing. Rackmount, switchable/blendable tube preamp, more ins/out than you could shake a stick at, great master volume. Awesome - not enough to make me consider giving up my Traynor or Laney, but I would've gladly kept it if I'd had the room. Was an incredibly versatile head - perfect for low volume heaviness due to the MV and tube stage.

Great cabs too. I sold the head - I wish someone here would've bought it, but I sold it to GC where it still sits - but kept the 2x210s - all the thump I need around the house, put my traynor 410 in storage.

Depends of other factors, but, generally, yes.
