I just started getting into this (by way of Deerhoof). What's the best place to start?

Maybe Fabulous Muscles, it might take you a little while to really get into it and tolerate some of the harsher stuff, it took me a while anyways.

Which albums have you got? I'm really loving A Promise and their newest album right now.

I'm fairly certain that was a prostitute, I'll try and find the story about it.
while searching I seem to have found a Jamie Stewart look-a-like blowing a horse...

2003 seems like SO LONG ago. i actually vaguely remember teh "minor" controversy surrounding teh album cover at the time.
yeah i checked out teh xiu xiu blog in lieu of this thread: i'm sure there is some horsecockblowjobs deeper are teh blog as well? maybe???
anyway. there was alwayz something about that guy's voice i didn't quite cotton to: that overly-affected quivering voice...can't quite place it...

Each Xiu Xiu album has it's own sort of vibe to it. I've loved Fabulous Muscles for years, but i saw them post Women As Lovers, and Women As Lovers is easily my favourite now. Women As Lovers is probably the most accessible record he's made.. incredible band.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

Oldest thread. WAL isn't my favourite, but "I do what I want..." is one of my favourite songs evar.
Fabulous Muscles was my favourite for a while too, and I never listened to the older albums, but a month ago I listen to A Promise and Knife Play and they're so fucking good!

I like it, though I go through year-long phases where I might not listen much.
