Lots of jetlag and not waiting for the things to warm up. The latter is hell on an analog unit - I don't miss having to work around the Realistic/Moog's ubiquitous inability to deal with temperate change in Chicago winters whenever the jam partners fired it up.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with TImbre Wolf, but it was a terrible demo. Part of demos, to me, is how people talk about the product. How excited they are, how well they know it and can get good sounds out of it.

I was also unimpressed with the catalinbread demos.

Pigtronix is baseline. Have to be at least that into it. Preferably TC's Tore level, but that's kinda rare.

Now....Dave Smith Instruments Sequential Prophet 6.......I want to sell all my stuff and buy it because of the sound and the confidence the creator had in his product.

Kinda like I want to drink Sam Adams because the founder is always so happy about beer.

I used to be a lawyer and it wasn't fun. Now I drink beer. Life is great. You should escape from your problems and Drink Sam Adams boston lager, too. After about 5 you'll be glad you did.

Yea, I look at these 'rush to press' first look demos as nothing more than "what might this do" - jetlag, rough edges, uninspiring demos (since they've probably already done seven in the last hour), etc. and file the product away to look at in the future.

I don't need someone to be into it or connect with me if it makes the noises I want to hear!

there's plenty of give and take. If someone makes a piece of gear sound godly (as far as the noise I want to hear), then yeah the rest is really just fluff and filler. But if the creator or rep can't get behind the product and be excited for it, then how is someone like me supposed to be excited about dropping money on something that may or may not work out...is how my mind works. If they're excited but can't get a single solid sound to come out, I rationalize that maybe a knob was twisted too far or knocked out of place...a future demo is in order, one that isn't trying to rush an elevator pitch and couple sound clips.

Thats a funny demo, lol. We have a Rhythm Wolf at work and plugged through some studio monitors its pretty impressive sounding. A bit simple, but thats the idea. Like a Volca beats for people who want a larger interface. Although it has a fat bass synth and fuller sample sounds.

Yeah, if I were young and saving my paper route money, these would cool maybe. I am sure they could be fun if you ran them through a bunch of pedals. I personally have no interest in these. Akai doesn't really know what they are doing except trying to get on the analog bandwagon and get money because they are analog. I guess they figure to a lot of people that if something is analog, it has to be good.
