Road 218

Post by Hagel123 »

I have the opportunity to get a road 218 cab with evm18b speakers in it. Should I do this? How different are 18s from 15s for bass?

I think 18s sound like shit, unless you're far enough away from them to really hear it throw.

I'm having the dude selling it send me some sound clips and whatnot so I can see what the cab sounds like. I currently play a mess 215 from the 90s, but it's squeaky and I don't want it to fall apart on me. I'm wondering how different the sound will be. Hopefully it won't be too different, just more bass. But, we will see.

That's my experience, too. If you're at the other end of the club, they sound awesome.

That's entirely possible. I also feel like I haven't seen a band that's willing to put up with one in like ten years?

Well, if I like the way it sounds, I will probably get it. Mathy punk band with some doomy bass lines. Deeper and thicker. That's what bass is for, right?

And are EV EVM-18bs good speakers? I know that era of ev speakers are the holy grail pretty much, but how are the 18s?

they should be cum worthy but I don;t think I've heard those first hand. the ones in my 210 218 cab are black widows.
