a used Bose L1 would work wonders and can carry 4 inputs I believe. Also availible are bass modules to help expand the low end. And its amp and monitor in one. Just a thought.

Edite: Grammar. My keyboard is shot to hell.

Damn, now I want a Hog 30. Been writing ambient-ish coffee house loopy stuff. This would be perfect.

Peavey Valveking 112. I have one, I've used it for open mic nights plenty of times.
Plus if you can find it used, you can get it rather cheaper. All tube tone

I second the SF Champ. Great little amps and sturdy as hell. Light and easy on your back. Two inputs, takes pedals well, sounds outstanding.
so much gear...

Vox pathfinder, yo.

It is one of my favorite amps and sounds even better through an extension cabinet.

a 5-15 watt tube amp isn't going to break anyone's back. and i've toured all over the place with tube amps with almost no problems with sturdiness. certainly no more problems than i've seen with solid state amps. i fucking dropped a tube amp off a stage in rural mexico a bunch of years ago. i was sure i was fucked as there was really no access to tubes for quite a while on our trip and i had no spares and no backup amp. but i picked it up and plugged it in and it was fine. i doubt some open mic gigs are really going to be that hard on an amp. a well made amp is going to be fine, tube or ss. your girlfriend should set a budget and get the best sounding well made amp that she can in her price range. i think people shouldn't buy into the notion that tube amps are so fragile. the amp itself will be just as solid as anything. the tubes need to be changed every once in a while. and the tubes are made of glass, but that doesn't actually make them as fragile as people think. they're not light bulbs. the glass is pretty solid. supposedly mesa actually tests their russian made mesa branded tubes by hitting them with a hammer. it's actually the handle end of the hammer, so it's not as impressive as it seems, but you get the point. they're not that fragile to shock.
