Yeah man, the neck on the 08 feels much more of a handful. The 13 is super slim. The Custom Shop pickups in the 13 are more to my liking than the 08's. The 08 pickups are hotter and have a lot more lows, whereas the 13 sounds more what I imagine a Tele to sound like when I think of a Tele sound. The 08 is a bit heavier, not much though. Probably gonna tune the 08 down and use it for some of my band's more droney shit, and keep the 13 for the faster stuff that needs a bit more articulation.

Teles fucking rule man :!!!:

These old guitars were designed assuming much heavier gauge strings than the standard Slinky 10's that I use.

I have a little issue with my 2011 Melody Maker SG's intonation. It's pretty great except for like two notes that are always a little weird. I don't even know if this is an intonation problem or just me being weird. It will be perfectly in tune in E standard, then I'll fret on the first or second fret of the G string and it will be a little sharp. Further up the neck on the string is good, and every other string is good everywhere. Had it set up professionally, upgraded the nut, took it to a second spot and they played it a little and said "Some people are just more sensitive to that sort of thing. Seems fine." I was a little surprised, like, you are the professional, you should be the most sensitive to tuning issues. Anyway, I'm not sure what to do. It drives me a little crazy, but I don't notice it at all when I'm out playing with people. I'm thinking about swapping to an adjustable bridge, but I don't really know if that would help. It has 10s on it now. Would going up a bit help with this?
:idk:

The one plus is that it has made me practice. I write a lot of poetry and like to set the poems to music. Used to do this with mostly basic cowboy chords and stuff. Now I'm all over the neck, all triad based and I'm loving it.

Should mention it's just a little sharp. Not enough to really matter, wife doesn't even notice. Just enough to drive me crazy :animal:
Sorry for the potentially confusing description. Tried to be as concise as possible

I've got a wrap tail - SG/HH - and expected to have issues. I don't, but I'm also not a stickle for those things.

Could be that I like big strings. Try stepping up to 11s or 12s. Hell, don't need to move up a whole gauge to experiment since you said it was just in one spot, just go up a size or two on that specific string.

That's it these days. The brownish natural jag is a 25.5 scale diy job. And srry if it's too spammy, but if anyone happens to be interested in the gibbo or the blue Classic '60s strat (original vintage neck radius version): Lemme know.

That SG is rad, what model is it?

It's a 67 Junior. Great neck, light as anything, P90 that goes to 11 and then some.

These are my babies. Both are MiM, The Strat is an '02 and the Tele is a '94. Both are Fender Standards, but the tele is a "Squier Series", which has had a ton of debate over whether they are true Fenders or Squiers...some even claim they were built with American bodies and necks, and Mexican everything else....I just play the damn thing. It plays great and is the guitar that got me into Fenders to begin with.

To the tele I added the Wilkinson bridge with compensated brass saddles, knobs, a Les Paul jack plate, and a new switch. The Strat is completely stock.

Both guitars have custom (made by me) pickguards. The tele was just a tattoo mag cut out, and for the strat I used my own salt print photos..I'm a photographer. I glued the images down, trimmed, then used a product called Envirotex-lite..a two part self leveling epoxy like on bar tops. It worked great and I highly recommend it for an DIY-modders :thumb:
