anyone build the 'insanity box'?

Post by tuj »

Here's what I'm talking about:

Three kinds of fuzz: op-amp+diode, CMOS clipping and FET boost.

Anyone build this? How's it sound? Anyone want to build me one?

I did, and it's been in my setup for 4 years now. As the name suggests. Search that galley, and you'll find my vero for it. I also added sym/asym clipping diode switch, and optional bias pot.

There is someone here... I think gigahearts who is doing only custom builds and his rates are EXTREMELY reasonable!

Dino, how important is the j201s here, or can other fets be subbed successfully?
J201s are a bitch to source nowadays...

Mouser is showing a thru-hole J201 FET from InterFET on order, supposed to be in stock on 3/13/15, and they have two SMT J201s from Fairchild available now. I know SMT is a bitch to solder but maybe that would work?
