Since the last few shows, I found out that if you don't fight it and trust your soundguy, it can really pay off.
One thing - I'm really starting to believe that in general, soundguys are trying to make it sound good. Of course their aesthetic imprint may vary, but in general, I do believe that they do try. Technical difficulties can hurt everyone and there has to be some pushback if the soundguy goes against the band's aesthetic. But in general... and i know it's hard, but... try to trust them. It really helps. (they also react much better to kindness so you might find the communication is generally better)
