Re: GFS Gold Foils
Seriously! I wish I had a clip of the bridge pickup in there so you could hear how bright the amp is. These are super dark pickups. Maybe the alnico's aren't as bassy? I'm still really into them though. Now to just figure out a way to mount it better in my JM...

Thanks for the demos, I think I might put these in my modern player jaguar! I've never been happy with the sound of the stock p90s.

Pics? Curious to see if the housings made of metal, plastic, plastic that looks metal, or plastic that wants to look like metal but fails miserably.
Clips have peaked my interest in a way that's potentially detrimental to my current satisfaction with my setup.

Hmmm, these could be fun. I may have to pick one up and compare it to the gold foil in my wee single pickup Teisco.

somewhat intrigued by these, but i've been consistently underwhelmed by the other GFS pickups that i've tried.

Re: GFS Gold Foils
Might consider one of these for a middleish pickup to put near the bridge pickup on my jaguar. Those demos sounded pretty awesome, and I can imagine it being great with the surf 90s that are in it now...

fuuuck im really interested but I wish you had it in the bridgecolossus wrote:Here are some demos. Pardon the terrible playing. Guitar is a VMJM --> Blackheart Handsome Devil 15w. Audix i5 mic. Not post processing.
First one is just repetitive chord work. Gold foil neck only, Gold foil/Antiquity ii middle, Gold foil neck only --> Meathead dark, Gold foil neck only --> Fuck w/ crackle mode on.
Second one is just some looping with a Fuck into a SHO and some Multiplex delay and DBA reverb. All neck only.

Re: GFS Gold Foils
I just put one of the P90 versions in my Melody Maker. It's definitely brighter than the stock pickup, and more punchy. Haven't had much time to listen to it at decent volume, but so far I like it.
The pickup cover is plastic, although the product photos make it look like metal (to me).
As far as I can tell, the foil is a thin layer of some kind of adhesive-baked foil. Here's a terrible iphone pic of the pickup without the cover:

Re: GFS Gold Foils
Which version do you think would be better for a Bass VI? I'm seriously thinking of switching the stock pickups of a Squire one for these.
