a vote for a hagstrom! i just picked up a vintage swede... way too cheap for what it is.. very nicely constructed, basically a les paul copy. it's all mahogany, but if you can get a super swede, i think that has a maple top.

also, the new hagstrom stuff is made in korea (i think?), except for the northen series, which is made in europe (czech republic, i think). still plenty of money left over to spend on pedals :)

What about a G&L ASAT? They are absolutely awesome looking, sounding, playing, and feeling guitars. Dry was the last word I would use to describe them, they range from broad and full frequency to very vintage and sweet with a juicy upper midrange/treble sound. Depending on the model/pickups/specs.

I tried an ASAT last year... not my thing.

I might keep my Tele, I'm not sure yet... I don't hate it.
But if I keep the Tele, I need a second guitar (with humbucker and a biger and wider neck).

I like a guitar that mix the quality of fender and gibson style in one.
I still think about a Maton... MS2000DLX of MS503-Classic.
