double cut telecaster/esquire build

Post by TheTransient »

alpine_oregon body - probably gonna keep it fairly natural looking
Mighty Mite V tele neck
Black pick guard
3 saddle bridge
Bridge pickup - have a SD hot rail handy, but that will probably get swapped a bunch)
Volume knob, maybe tone know, not sure yet

Hopefully I can make it not look like shit. most examples of the double cut tele I have seen look awful :idk:

The body and neck are still being shipped from the US so it may be a little while before I see them and can actually start on getting it together properly... GAH

Well, you've got all the pieces there. You can do it.

This's my favorite double cut Tele:

is it the angle, or are the 'horn' cuts different depths? because i think that actually looks great (somewhere between strat and tele). the equal cuts always struck me as a little.... weird and penisy. opposite on a doublecut LP, because then it looks devil hornish!

If it's good enough for Mr Albini :idk:

I think black hardware might be the way to go on this one since the wood is all going to be pretty much natural.

I like it! I'd just do the bridge pickup, volume / tone / 3-way (set up as normal / tone bypass / straight-to-jack), single-ply black guard. Then rock.

So an update. The body arrived a little while back and I have given it three coats of Danish oil. It's looking good! Right now I am waiting in hardware so I can put it together. Here is a mock up of what I am going for:

I initially thought black hardware, but I've decided to go silver, so I have to wait some more for that lot to come in haha goddamn it. Going for a sort of tele meets Dan Armstrong vibe with the pickguard.
