The Year in GAS
Well, with the year wrapping up I keep seeing end of the year lists popping up everywhere, so I figured we might as well have one here too.
So, what were your favorite gear purchases of 2014? Pedals, amps, instruments, whatever.
This was a big year for me. The year I discovered ILF. So naturally, I went on a b/s/t binge and bought & flipped like mad. The two pedals that have reigned supreme are the Mini and TAFM. Honorable Mention goes to the Raptio, even though it was just sacrificed for the greater good. I'll get another. I cant speak for the Polytope just yet since it's still in the mail, but I'll go ahead and reserve a spot. Meet Maude will sit in its place for now.
Also, what are you looking forward to/hoping for in 2015? I am personally stoked for the new Dwarfcraft GEARS. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Fairfield Circuitry and Brian cook up for us. And finally, I'm very much looking forward to buying and loving a Bass VI.
Let's hear it from you guys!

Re: The Year in GAS
My favorte gear purchases don't really fit with the Year in GAS for me.
I haven't really bought much aside from booze, pizza, candy, some strings, some picks.....Hartke Bass Attack.
I did end up coming into posession of a Pigtronix Echolution 2. Haven't really used it. That's my year in Gear.
Now year in GAS, I think I've learned that my-size instruments, lower power amps, modulation pedals, flexible muffs Rad Dimarzios and classical guitars are what direction I need to lean in.

Re: The Year in GAS
I think I only bought two fuzz pedals all year. Lucky for me they're both all kinds of awesome.
First is this, a custom Castledine Stingray, a clone of an Italian Vox Tonebender. Fuzz sound is phenomenal, cleanup is amazing. Love it.

And a Faustone Fuzz Unit. I'd been after one of these for a while and this popped up, minty as minty can be, for a great price, too. Still stunned by how good it is every time I plug it in. It's like the best Muff ever, really fat bottom end, with an almost octave-like overtone going on. Couldn't be happier.

Got a guitar coming in, too, that should keep me smiling all through 2015…

Re: The Year in GAS
Squier bass vi was definitely the year's highlight!
In terms of pedals, I've not had a bad year. Digitech timebender is very cool, happy I got one of those.
I made a super cool custom order that won't turn up till next year now but it's bound to be one of that year's highlights.

Re: The Year in GAS
Damn. This thread put things in perspective for me. I've been here for 4,5 months and went from this... (yes, I know I fucked up the in/out on the DBA+context. A n00b I was)

to this

My favourite pedal might be my custom Algal Bloom or the Kompakt Kassette. The Algal is unlike any fuzz I've tried. It's super versatile and has it's very own voice, that I adore. The Kassette var my first Seppuku and it got me hooked! Extreme tape saturation, great warm and glitchy breakup, and only one repeat makes me think and play differently when using it.
Favourite non-pedal gear will have to be the Lollars I got for my TC72. Regals are just as warm and thick as the stock wide range, but it actually has note definition.
For next year, I'm hoping to grab a Bass VI and bass amp, a bunch of SS/BS pedals and a Devi Ever BDSM. And more Seppukus!!

Re: The Year in GAS
i moved into a new house
we have a bitchin jam room now
that no one can kick us out of
buisiness has been good too
so i basically got everything i thought i needed
the 2 randall 300s and 2 6x12s though
that changed everything
the battle for low end is over
oh we got a bass player too

to have the room for them
and a place to play whenever i want
what more could i ask for

Best pedal purchases this year:
KORG FK-2 Mr. Multi
Seppuku DPM-2
I was on the hunt for them for a few years and the Seppuku Octave Synth that I'm going to buy next week will jump on that list as well, I'm sure.
And to have stumbled upon this great forum about the more wicked pedals also made this year a special one!

After lugging around a beast Gibson RD Artist for years and always feeling like it was a fight just to play it, not just the weight, but the neck and the scale, I sold it to fund a G&L Interceptor. The tone kills on it, and the action and feel is so much better for me. I'm happy every day to have an instrument that fits me so well.

Re: The Year in GAS
I bought three significant items this year: Boss GT-001 (which is absolutely phenomenal as a non-roadworthy effects processor since I don't need it to be that), my custom Godbox Test Pattern from Hell (since neither Devi nor the new management had any interest in making one, I commissioned a heavily modified version so I could have a second), and the surprise Epiphone Casino.
First two I heavily suspected I'd love, but the latter was a whim that wouldn't go away.
Only thing I didn't like was it reminded me of John Lennon too much.
So I added an emblem of war and a GG Allin sticker to round it out.

Re: The Year in GAS
2014 was big for me.
- selling both my Bassman and Vox AC15 to fund the Verellen Spaldo ministack
- a Verellen big spider got thrown in as a nice bonus, so that was cool
- built my first pedal, a feedback looper
- got a free Walrus Audio descent last summer, that was cool too
- upgraded the bridge on my VI with a Staytrem one
- bought an Electro-Faustus EF104 used from a friend
- bought the Koma delay off of Phanta
Nice year overall

Re: The Year in GAS
I didn't get much new gear in 2014 because I have no money. The only new gear I have is:
custom Algal Bloom (2nd place prize for ILF Fantasy Football last year):

homemade dual ZVMachine/Fuzzrite (circuit by Scruffie, etch by Laowiz):
