CLP on guitars?
Anyone ever use CLP on their guitars? I want to, but I'z scarred... Know of a reason why I shouldn't?

it's carcinogenic? That's a pretty good one right there.

Yeah, okay, I'll scrap that idea. Thanks for your input, guys.

Re: CLP on guitars?
Oils and shit for metal are no good for wood (especially gun cleaner which has harsh chemicals meant to break down built-up crud from shooting, like, carbon and copper. Man, gun cleaner is diabolical and will give you and your offspring cancer even unto the 7th generation! Yeah. Just out of curiosity, ever cleaned a gun? I only ask because at the time it never occured to me to go use solvent or gun oil on my guitar, haha. I have used hoppes oil on squeeky door hinges though). Most products for wood (like, furniture stuff) you also don't want to use on your guitar, because they contain silicone that will build up on your guitar and is difficult to get off. So I guess what I'm saying is, use guitar stuff for your guitar.

Reminds me of this time my brother got this surplus Mosin Nagant, and he spent an entire night cleaning the cosmoline out of it. Soaked into the wood, too, what a mess.
Chemicals that break down carbon are scary. You know what else is made of carbon? You!!! It's like this recurring dream I have where I'm a chewed up gummy bear.

Sure, I've cleaned many a gun. CLP is not an aggressive solvent. I use it mainly to finish up with. But, I will heed the warnings that it's not a good idea for guitars.
