Maybe a little Talkbass-y, but...

Post by neonblack »

http://www.3leafaudio.com/little-black-box.html

Is anyone else interested in this? The description has me a little interested. It seems like a reasonably priced preamp in a small package. Someone on TB called it the 3 leaf Rusty Box. Its a limited thing, so I'm sure once they sell out we'll see that $150 price tag jump way up.

I know 3leaf doesn't really get much hype over here. Just figured I'd see what the ILFsphere thought.

Doesn't seem to be much of personal interest, no.

For $150 I could think of a dozen EQ pedals with boost I'd buy instead for more control, and probably have enough for a pizza after.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

Seems like itd be real subtle.
Does it boost enough to be considered a pre amp?

Is that only because of the oxidized enclosure?

Yeah, I don't really see how it could be compared to the RB if it doesn't add any grit

I just bought it! And I have to say that it's great for pushing other distortions or overdrives... I've replaced my Lastgasp Donsharizer with it. Plenty of volume, and the two controls are boost-only.

Ummm, I'm not really into subtle things usually myself. Needs a little more grain/ dirt/ clipped treblez/ fuzz to my taste, but might be a perfectly good for boost. :)

Chankgeez is right, the 3Leaf owner was trying to be clever with his pre-release hype and made a reference to it being his Rusty Box. As it's only a clean boost the reference was in regards to the enclosure, which is slightly oxidized.

As soon as I realized this was little more than a boost, I stopped caring.
