Fuzz-friendly hollowbody basses?

My wife has one. Neck dive, junky fretwork, some rattles to sort through. I wish they had focused more on the out-of-the-box playability than the bling. Sounds pretty good, but the mini hum neck pickup falls short of mudbucker obesity. Put flats on or nylon tape-wound and it speaks pretty good thump and whomp. I don't think it was ever gonna be a slapping bass.

Dang, I never tried the Woody bass, but that's what hear about it. Little workmanship, undefined muddy sounding. I was hoping someone here had it and had positive experiences with it.

Sonically, it's actually not that muddy was my point. A mudbucker in the neck can be overwhelmingly bassy to deal with, and this one isn't because it doesn't use one. I actually thought it was too zingy with round wounds. I think with flats or tapes it's a pretty good compromise to getting the big fat shortscale semi-hollow sound without needing to match it up with a particular amp to ensure that it'll work. But if you go this way, fretwork, setup work, putting rubber tubing over the pickup springs to de-rattle . . . It's about as shittily built as a current Gibson.

And yes, Casady is fuzz friendly as hell. And by that I mean it feeds back like a mother.

Yup, fucking love it! Just gotta find stings that pair well with it. It likes my elixirs, but I don't like the sound of them on the Cassady as much as my stingray.

I have chromes on my Casady. I thought roundwounds are too zingy with it.

slap some flatwounds on it... played one once, they're RAD, not expensive, very light, literally very thin and hence I'd noét expect tons of feedback?

but i mean... there's probably not much that can be done about at least some feedback with dirt

I've played one. It didn't wow me at all but.. being a hollow body they will all be different so I feel to have a really good view I'd need to play one or two more.
