Space Echo RE-201 help

Post by mutron »

Anyone know if there's a way to clean scratchy pots without taking the entire thing apart? That idea terrifies me.
Guy I ordered tapes from sent a general maintenance tip sheet saying "take off the knobs and spray contact cleaner in there" but after taking off a knob I don't see how that is possible or how it could get anywhere near the inside of the pot, am i missing something?
This machine is pure sex and I'm trying to get it back into tip top shape, everything else is fine on it.

It's very simple to remove the caseing and the get access to the insides, you just unscrew the five screws on the bottom and the single screws on each side and the chassis slides right out.

Take knob off. Spray cleaner on the pot shaft, twist. Repeat. Wipe off excess.

That *will* work in most cases.

It's exactly what I do on mine.

Thanks! I ended up taking the chassis out to try and give the pots a good go over as I doubt its been done in 20+ years. Also noticed that the circuit board is wired beautifully!
I'm trying to get to the point where I can do all maintenance and repairs by myself without destroying it in the process.
