Re: mini
Maybe I should just get one for the purpose of making the first and one and only decent demo clip
Thanks for the input, I'll think about it. They're not easy to come by in Europe though, especially if I don't want to pay a lot more than what the next best alternative would cost me.
The elements was just way overkill for me, and I was always fiddling with all those knobbies instead of playing
The thing with my current main overdrive though, a Hotcake: It flatout sucks at high gain settings, at least through my Fender stack. There's no way I'm flipping it, cause at low/mid settings through my vox, it's a match made in heaven.
I'm not even after a particular sound, at this point I'd be happy with anything that stacks well and can get really dirty and NOT sound like there's a blanket over my amp, making everything sound extremely muddy and muffled.
Well, not "anything" I guess. I tried more Rats than I can remember. They're picky about amps imo, and the complete lack of bass was annoying as fuck. Muffs don't work for me either. For an all-purpose dirt pedal that can handle a wide range of styles, Muffs just don't cut it imo. Brittle at low gain settings, and with the gain turned up they just totally dissapear in a loud band.

I'm pretty sure it's overdriven jfets, so no. Feel wise, I get that guess. Clip didn't sound unlike the Tornita, which is a modified FF that sounds faintly amp-like for what still sounds pretty FF.Uncle Grandfather wrote:The mini is a fuzz face variant right?

Maybe a Fuzzhugger Arc Flash might be another good option. Very versatile Overdrive meets Distortion meets Fuzz. I have one and love it. Though I have also started gassing for a Mini too. You can never have too many versatile dirt pedals on your board.frigid midget wrote:Maybe I should just get one for the purpose of making the first and one and only decent demo clip

Re: mini
I also kept buying - flipping - buying again - trading, etc. and the second or third time I got a Mini it just fucking hit me that it's so good I should not be doing that with it, so I had DannyW personalize it for me so I'll never get rid of it.

I'm also a huge fan of the Fuck OD. I think, as a pedal, it's more fun than the mini since it can momentarily explode, but just in overall the Mini sounds just about great with any amp, as I previously mentioned. And I've never felt it had the covered blanket sound, even with the bias knob all the way down.

Re: mini
Feck, me too. I'm constantly holding Mini gas at bay, and then I read threads like this and I need to go have a drink to calm myself down or else I'll end up buying 10 of them or something. It was bad enough as it was to pass on the Black Friday/special case Mini sale.Gone Fission wrote:Dang. Mini gas now cranked to 11.
Funny thing is, the only reason I've been able to hold off on getting a Mini is because my TAFM is so good. SO good.
UG, the TAFM is the one that is a fuzz face variant IIRC. I think the Mini is a unique circuit design...maybe?
OP, isn't there a EU/UK Mini for sale in the BST right now?

I'll keep my eyes open for a second chance, but like I said, there's not too many mini's around in Europe. I think it'd cost me about $20 to have one shipped from the US, which would probably ruin the possibility of a sweet deal

I think there's a sale happening. You could probably pay the normal amount with the discount.
Did you check out the arc flash?

K I actually have a recording setup and a mini so I will try and making one tomorrow because it is just an all around great thing.
Seriously. That and a re-20 are the two things which will never change in my pedal board probably.

I'm with you dude, I think the same thing about most pedals...frigid midget wrote:It's probably me, but I can't find a single demo that shows what this thing's capable of, dispite the huge following of ss/bs obsessed fan boys![]()
Can anyone point me to a decent quality clip that's not recorded with a phone/camera? On guitar, not just bass, and preferably no noise fest with a bunch other fuzz pedals running at the same time. Lots of fun I know, but not the best way to get to know a pedal.
Definitely share your philosophy on how to make a demo video.
I started my own demo series recently (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwexrkcErR0), but no Mini on there as of yet.
I just reached out to see if Brian might be interested in having a demo made.

And instead of being the fist one to put a decent ss/bs mini demo online, I'd be just as happy if I'm the one who nagged and moaned long enough for someone else to put the first decent mini online
