I still want one, in spite of the DMM essentially being a tapeless EP-3...that completely nails the pre-amp.
So I typically use one for a similar purpose.
Step 1: Acquire big box DMM (non true bypass)
Step 2: Crank Level knob
Step 3: Route signal from Direct out or use Blend knob for all-dry in Echo out, bringing echo swell in via knob sweeps
Not only does clean guitar sound more interesting...but any fuzz in front is given new emphasis at all the right frequencies
i'm interested in this. i've never used my dmm in this way. i have a big box, but it's a later true bypass version. do you do this with the pedal off? otherwise, why would it need to be non true bypass?

With a TB version you'll have to use the Blend knob method while the pedal is engaged, to get dry pre-amp'd signal from the Echo out.
Be advised, the pre-amp's maximum gain is significantly higher once a big box DMM is TB'd.
Non TB versions the level knob is always in the signal chain, so you've got options.

I'm going to try this out. Thanks for the tip. I doubt it'll end up as a go to part of my setup. But it sound cool to play with. I use the delay and vibrato on the dmm too much to dedicate it to this, and I dont fuck with knob twiddling live unless I absolutely have to.
