I'm going on tour this weekend

Post by Bellyheart »

It'd be nice if you ILF friends came out to watch.

Tour with Hail Hydra:
1/15 = Philly @ the Ava house with Kite Party and Bandname
1/16 = NYC @ 538 Johnson with Little Lungs, Broccoli Destroyer, and Sweet Bulbs
1/17 = 1908 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware (The Spot)

That's all the info I have.

Now that I've promoted...anyone care to share some fun tour experiences?

have fun duder, tour was the best time of my short life so far.

but the stories.....where to start.. haha
we played in staten island (worst fucking place) and the dude whos basement apartment we were staying at was in a this band with 3 separate singers that strictly did the same type of screaming. the whole night sucked, but our set was the best it had been so far, maybe because we only played to like 10 people though, hahaha. but we finally get to follow the dudes drunk as fuck ass home at like 4am, going at least 50-55 in a 25 just so we can get there and listen not only to him fuck the slampig he brought back with him, but also his roommate fucking his bitch. we listen to this for as long as its happening and as soon as its done one of our members starts up the lightsaber ap on his iphone

Congrats! Sorry that I won't be able to make it out - none of those are close enough for my lame non-traveling ass.

Worst: not as bad as brummy, I suppose, but we drove out to NYC to play at a little dive where the soundman was all cranked up on speed and kept telling us to turn down our instruments one by one. Then he complained that my bass signal was distorting when I turned on my fuzz. Also, the management neglected to mention that they'd be asking each person who came through the door which band they came to see, and we comped all of our friends, so we ended up making $5 - not even enough to cover the tolls out of the city.

Best: when I played as replacement bassist for a friend's band midwest tour. They had really been working it, and the last night of the tour was in Indiana, at a college where the local radio station loved the band. The radio station's music director knew the names of everyone in the band, and recognized me from the time they had thanked me in their CD liner notes! The show was packed (I mean, it was a small room, maybe 75 - 100 people, but still) and people actually sang along to over half the set, and danced for the whole thing. Of course, I had to drive 17 hours straight back to Boston the next day, but it was certainly something.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

That sound very worth the long drive. Successfulness is the goal.

Once we were playing Prospect, PA and we had a horrible show the day before. We played Brooklyn Academy of Music and I drove solo all the way from Va to Brooklyn so we could play. It was supposed to be Afropunk, but the venue was so far from punk. Couldn't sell merch inside unless we charged double so they could get a cut, which we did anyway, couldn't touch our equipment once it was inside, and the typical "sound guy doesn't understand overdriving an amp" problem. We were an exhibit. People just sat and watched, however, at least thirty friends drove from VA and MD to watch, so that was awesome They stood. We also made $250.

Anyway, Prospect is backwoords as hell. It's awesome. We get there and have a good time seeing our friend who's cabin we're playing. They go on a beer run and since we made so much we gave 'em money. Long story short after we play I'm stumbling around wasted, take a pill that was said to be roofilin, but it was klonipin and black out. Apparently, I was naked for a few hours walking around in my studded belt, acting as if I wasn't naked. Woke up in a teepee with a twisted ankle.

lol I would tell some drunken stories from tour, but I can't remember them...must of had a good time. All I remember from the night that we got back into WV (not necessarily home, it was in Charlestown/Kearnysville and I'm from the other side of the state) we went down the road to the local sheetz and got ourselves 4 mickey's 32's. we just stayed outside on this dude's lawn drinking all night. shit got real.
