Schecter has the Hellcat and Ultra vi. Besides that i don't know. The ultra vi is more appealing to me than the Fender. I don't know how much use I'd get out of the vibrato.
I'll probably get the Squier first since its half the price.
I have this vision. Of using a bass vi as a hybrid bass/lead instrument with synthy fuzz and octaves and glitchy stuff. And looping. I basically want to be St. Vincent with a bass vi. I felt like this was the best place to share. Is anyone using it like this?

This is like the entire reason I want a synthy fuzz, the upcoming Dwarfcraft Gears, and a Particle right now

Oh man, that Gears is high on the list.
I would imagine a count to five would be handy for this kinda thing as well.
I pull crazy synthy lead stuff out of my Bass VI on the higher strings at the 12th fret and above using a Foxx Tone Machine clone (the Madbean one I think?) with the octave on. Sounds killer. And super smooth, weirdly enough.

Can't wait for my Count to 5 to get here. It will definitely be used for this purpose
If I run my Fuck into my Driving Notion and roll off the tone on my bass, it does a synthy octave up which I use as a lead type sound to cut through everything. It will probably be my go-to lead sound on bass vi. It's not too heavy sounding but definitely commands attention.
This color ain't bad but it's still pretty ugly. I'm also skeptical of the P90's...too much midrange might make it hard to get cleans and to me, VI's are masters' of clean.

That's not nearly as ugly as I thought it would be. I'd play the shit out of that. Mid bump and all.
Edit: Goddamn I didn't realize these fuckers were so expensive.

I don't know whether the following should be compared to St-Vincent, but it was recorded live with a looper (Boomerang III) and a Bass VI as the only instrument. You can definitely hear delay and fuzzy sounds
neonblack wrote:How easy is it to palm mute on bass vi? I love the sound of clean palm muted bass into delay but it gets tiring on a 4 string.
Very easy. Sounds great too!

Yeessssss. Not always, and I have to agree with louderthangod and my favourite thing is clean chords, but it's super good for layering loops and of course, fuzz.
